Maria Fynsk Norup

I'm a Danish fine art photographer, mostly using self-portraits as the medium for storytelling in my work. My work often revolves around exploring the melancholy of being, the right to a place in the world, and the raw poetry of nature. My inspiration is usually drawn directly from dreams, feelings and past experiences, and my work can therefore vibrate with a dark undertone. I originally trained in classical botany, and the inspiration from the plant world often appears in my works. The last couple of years my work has received several international awards, and in 2021 my images have been shown at several exhibitions in DK and abroad. My entry into the NFT world was by way of winning an award in December 2021 from British Journal of Society, where one of my works is showcased in a virtual exhibition at New Art City, as well as auctioned at Opensea. Iā€™m currently in the process of minting several of my works at the large NFT photography platform Foundation, as well as on Spaceseven.

The ghosts of yesterday

Nature Morte

Eye of the beholder

This is a self-portrait created at the very end of the first lockdown in 2020 here in Denmark. At that point I literally felt like I was crawling the walls after months of being a round-the-clock mum, home-school teacher, wife, and constantly worrying about my small art business crashing completely, with hardly any energy or drive to create art.
